🧈 Why I Use Tallow in My Soap

I use beef tallow in all of my soaps — not because it’s trendy (though it’s definitely having a moment!), but because it’s one of the most skin-nourishing ingredients you can use. Tallow soap is rich, creamy, and full of nutrients your skin naturally recognizes — and once you try it, you’ll understand why it’s becoming a favorite among people who love natural skincare.

✨ Packed with Skin-Loving Nutrients

Tallow is rich in fatty acids like oleic, stearic, and palmitic acids, which act as natural emollients to moisturize, hydrate, and soften skin. Because it’s similar in composition to our own skin’s sebum, it helps restore the skin barrier and prevent moisture loss — something most commercial soaps simply can’t do.

It’s also high in linoleic acid and omega-6, which help calm redness and irritation linked to issues like eczema and rosacea (a big reason I first tried it — my aunt’s rosacea improved dramatically once she switched to my tallow soap).

And let’s not forget the vitamins: tallow is rich in A, D, E, and K, powerful antioxidants that protect against free-radical damage and support overall skin health.

💧 Great for All Skin Types

One of my favorite things about tallow is how versatile it is. Whether you have dry, sensitive, oily, or acne-prone skin, it helps maintain balance. Personally, I have oily skin — and tallow soap helps keep it clean and clear without over-drying.

🧬 A Natural Source of Collagen

Tallow is also a natural source of collagen, which helps keep skin firm and youthful. I used to take collagen supplements (marine collagen, to be exact), thinking I’d boost my skin from the inside out. Within a week, I was so tired I could barely function — I honestly thought I needed lab work done!

My husband finally said, “What’s changed lately?” He looked into it, and sure enough… the culprit was that supplement. So I stopped, felt normal again, and realized maybe my body just prefers collagen from food and skincare — not a bottle.

Now I get mine naturally through bone broth, good nutrition, and my soapmaking. It’s funny how things come full circle — sometimes the most traditional ingredients end up being the smartest.

🧼 The Real Reason: It Makes Better Soap

All of those benefits are amazing — but honestly, the reason I keep using it is simple: tallow makes incredible soap.

It creates a hard, long-lasting bar that doesn’t melt away between uses. It lathers beautifully, with a rich, creamy foam that feels luxurious on your skin. It’s gentle, hydrating, and leaves your skin clean but never tight or dry.

Could I make an all-tallow bar? Absolutely. But I like blending it with other oils to bring in extra qualities too. Still, tallow is always my base — and my favorite.

❤️ From My Family to Yours

Tallow has completely changed the way my skin (and my family’s skin) feels — and I hope it does the same for you. Once you try a handmade tallow soap, you might never go back to store-bought again.
